Vanilla thieves force famers to sell the crop at an infant stage

Some Vanilla farmers at Kyondo Sub County in Kasese district have asked government to allow them sell off their crop at an infant stage and low costs due to the increased theft of the crop.

The chairperson LC3 for Kyondo Sub county Mr. Juvenile Muke confirms that his office has already received the letter demanding the local leadership in Kasese to allow farmers sell off their immature vanilla due to the increased thievery of vanilla.

Mr. Juvenile confirms that Vanilla farmers were suffering with their crop ending in the hands of thieves adding that it would be better if they were allowed to sale off their immature crop in fear of thugs.

He reports that most Vanilla farmers sleep in their gardens guarding the crop against thieves a practice he said exposes their lives to danger.

The Kasese district recently passed an ordinance that is intended to curb down the theft of Vanilla whose one kilogram is currently sold at two hundred thousand shillings.
