Stunted growth still a problem-residents call for support

The Kasese District Principal Agricultural officer, Mr. Julius Rukara has called for support by the stakeholders in the recently established Multi sectoral food security and nutrition project aimed at fighting cases of stunted children in Kasese.

Addressing head teachers and school management committee representatives of the benefiting schools at Kasese Multi-purpose hall, Mr. Rukara said that the project targeted mainly schools which he described as the most vulnerable section of the community before asking the parents and schools to encourage the production and eating balanced diet.

Mr. Rukara further explained that a stunted person despite his level of education has a lot of un coordinated actions that includes being forgetful unnecessarily, before rating stunted people in Kasese District at forty seven percent.

The business mobilizer of centenary bank, Mr. Gerald Makwesa said that the accounts opening exercise for the benefiting schools had been done smoothly before encouraging members of the community with no accounts to follow suit.

Earlier, the head teacher form Mundongo primary school, Mr. Amon Muke described the project as timely for the good of the learners and the community, saying that more than four million was to be received by his school under the same program.

The chairman management committee for Nyamighera primary school Mr. Augustine Sahukira welcomed the four year project that targets mainly the well-being of the learners and the community. END
