MP Centenary demands explanation from gov’t over kasese deaths

KASESE.

The Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament Robert centenary wants an explanation from government over the uncalled for deaths of civilians amidst tight security deployment in Kasese.

Centenary says it’s very unfortunate that some civilians are dying in Kasese from the beating of security forces on night patrol who are supposed to protect civilians giving an example of one Maliki Bwambale who was recently severely beaten to death by police officers.

He has vowed to pursue for justice for the victims of these brutal deaths to ensure that all errant police officers involved in the killings are prosecuted and the family members of the victims are compensated.

About fifteen civilians are reported to have died under unclear circumstances in Kasese district in a spate of six months with some of the dead bodies recovered in bushy places and along river channels.

The Kasese district police commander Samuel odongo told our reporter that police investigations department is about to come up with a report about the uncalled for deaths and discipline some of the errant police officers involved. END
