Lance Corporal Bright Johnson 44 years was shot dead on the night of 15th Sunday, during a patrol that was mounted by the Police.
The police gunned down this UPDF soldier at Maliba trading centre in Busongora North constituency Kasese district.
The brother to the deceased Baguma Nicklas who was together with him at the trading centre says Johnson was trying to remove his Identification from the pocket and it’s where the police officer started cocking his gun.
He adds that one police officer pointed at his brother and later put him on a gun point before he was gunned down.
Janet Musime the sister to the deceased says that they saw their brother falling down and thought that it’s the same skills they use in Somalia but unfortunately this was his demise.
According to the father of the deceased Mr. Patrick Masereka noted that the deceased had just come home while on leave from Somalia where he has been on a peace keeping mission.
Masereka calls Government to cooperate before he reports the matter to the Human Rights Commission.
The UPDF Spokesperson for Western region Capt. Steven Tumwesigye who was approached on phone said, Johnson Bright was killed in unclear circumstances with a police officer which he said was regrettable.
This brings a total number to two people who have been killed by a gun in less than a week in Kasese district.
