The Kasese district health department has resolved to relocate some health center threes in the district to fishing land site to improve on the health sector and reduce maternal deaths in the district.
The resolution was made during the annual District health assemble at the district mult purpose hall in Rukoki.
Addressing the Assemble, the district health information officer Julius Musoro revealed that the number of mother dying while giving birth at the fishing landing site is on increase due to inadequate health facilities.
He mentioned that new born deaths in Kasese stands at 16 % per thousand new borns which is equal to the national percent and most of these cases are reported at the fishing landing sites.
The district health officer Dr. Yusuf Biseka appealed to leaders that there is need to improve on the health facility and sanitation in the fishing communities of kasese.
