KASESE. The Kasese district NRM vice chairperson Rev. Canon Julius Kithaghenda has resigned from active politics.
Kithaghenda says he is returning to the Anglican Church ministry where he resigned from eleven years back to join active politics as the kasese district LCV chairperson a position he held for one term.
Speaking to UJK reporter at the south Rwenzori diocesan offices in Kamaiba, kasese town Kithaghenda said he was personally convinced to spend the remaining ten years before his retirement from church service to join back the church ministry.
Before resigning from active politics, Kithaghenda has been at the forefront of kasese split into four district and was recently among a team of kasese NRM leaders who met president Museveni about kasese split.
He however on 3rd November evening disowned the idea of splitting kasese and hanged it on the 2006-2011 district council which passed it but not as his own project.
In 2010, Kithaghenda council passed a resolution to split kasese into two more districts and since then Kithaghenda has been openly seen campaigning for the split.
He recently contested for the Busongora north constituency MP but lost in the NRM primaries to Mike Mbakania who also lost the post to the incumbent MP William Nzoghu.
He now says he can only be available to pray for politics and as an opinion leader but not holding any further political responsibility. ENDS
