Include PWDs in Gov’t developments

The acting Country Director, Action on Disability and Development (ADD) International, Thomas Kyokuhaire, has called on government to include persons with disability in its programs.

He made the appeal at a gala held at Nyakasanga playground under the theme “enhancing inclusive participation of children with disability in peace building initiative.”

Kyokuhaire pointed out that to some extent, government has left behind people with disability in its programmes such as OWC, women empowerment projects and youth livelihood yet they have efforts to contribute to the country’s development.

He further explained that in the region, PWDs have many challenges in striving for natural life.

Discrimination is more often among these people the reason to why they are calling for inclusiveness.

The Kasese district LC 5 chairperson, Bigogo Sibendire Geoffrey, observed the need to instill peace building into young children.

Bigogo who said that cultural identity has turned an element of insecurity in the region, appreciated the gala that brought together diverse tribe.

The gala was organised by NUDIPU and Twenty seven schools from Districts of Bunyangabu and Kasese participated in different various activities including debate and football among others. End
