KASESE. Hima town council on Thursday approved a motion to re-affirm the creation of the new districts in Kasese district.
The motion was moved by the Mayor Hima town council John Musana Katura and later approved by council that was presided over by the speaker, Hon Margret Ntungwa.
While moving the motion, Mr. Musana Katura who indicated that the split is in conformity with the decentralization guidelines sighted bringing services nearer to the local community, development, creation of jobs and easy monitoring of government programmes as some of the reasons for the creation of new administrative units from the greater Kasese districts.
The Kasese District councilor representing Hima town, Hon. John Businge welcomed the motion for the Kasese split, before giving his personal testimony on how it was easy for him to execute his duties as a secretary for social services as well as production looking at the size and terrain of the district.
The Hima Division OC/CIID, ASP Hassan Karengeti who represented the DPC, asked councilors to assist Police in mobilizing the community about the importance of moving with national identity cards.
Mr. Karengeti used this same opportunity to ask council to budget for a temporary mortuary so as to minimize risks, inconveniences and costs of sending bodies to the Kasese Municipal mortuary.
Speaking to UJK reporter later after council, the Hima town council clerk, Ms Eva Ngene who said she was proud of the community she was serving called for hard work, before arguing them to empress unity and peaceful co-existence.
Several representations were made in council, including the business community.
