The Chief Commander of the Operation Wealth Creation program Gen Salim Saleh has raised concerns over the low food production levels at Mubuku irrigation scheme that was three years back rehabilitated by government at a tune of 19billion shillings.
He described the situation as under productivity and warned the scheme managers of tough actions by government including giving out the irrigation scheme to serious private sector farmers if no improvement is made.
The scheme is currently under the management of Basaaja Kweyamba association which oversees the scheme land utilization including hiring blocks to farmers.
One of the youths in Kasese Ronald Ntabosi reported to Gen Saleh that their efforts to invent new innovations in the scheme utilization have always been blocked by the scheme managers. END
