Former engineer sentenced to three years in jail

KASESE. The former Kasese district Engineer, Mr. James Atuhairwe has been sentenced to three years in prison for being guilty on charges of abuse of office, negligence of duty, and causing financial loss.

The Engineer was arrested after he awarded a certificate of completion of work to Bikan Construction Company which allegedly did shoddy work on the Kasanga Mithi Musanju road in Bwera sub-county in Kasese district.

One of the prosecutors at the anti corruption court at Kololo in Kampala one her worship Sylvia confirmed the information but referred our reporter to their public relations officer for more details.

The Bwera sub-county Chairperson who has been following up the case Mr. Emmanuel Masereka says the engineer was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of abuse of office, negligence of duty, and causing financial loss.

He asked civil servants and other government workers to ensure that there is value for money on addition to collaborating with the local residents for better service delivery.

The sub-county Chairperson says he will soon avail the court judgment to the district authority such that modalities to have the same road re-constructed are put in place. END
