Police foils Besigye’s rally in Kasese

What started as a bright day has ended in tears when the FDC party president and former presidential candidate Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye was intercepted by police and the army in the hearts of Kasese town today evening.

Earlier on a mobilization meeting which involved almost all the FDC delegates in Kasese was held at Rwenzori international Hotel in kamaiba in Kasese municipality peacefully.

It is after this meeting where the self proclaimed Peoples Government President Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe was seen joining Amuriat at the FDCs office Kasese amidst deployment and resistance by security agencies.

They were then intercepted by police when they reached Shauli Yako market as they were trying to head to Nyakasanga play grounds for a public rally and what followed was police and UPDF turning against them.

Kasese Residents who followed them were dispersed with tear gas and live bullets.

Dr. Kizza Besigye while speaking to journalists narrated that when the president of the republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was in Kasese a few days back no one attacked him, and now he doesn’t want anyone else to talk to Ugandans.

“Police are servants of Ugandans and therefore they are not supposed to stop me from doing what i want to do.” Besigye said.

Talking to Hon. Muhindo Harold the Member of Parliament for Bukonzo East constituency, said the party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Dr. Kizza Besigye along with other FDC delegates have been driven to an unknown destination; adding that even when they tried to follow them police helped by the army used force to stop them.

“The party president and Dr. Kizza Besigye have been escorted to an unknown place. we are calling upon this government that we should respect humanity” said Harold. End
