FDC leaders in Kasese hail President Museveni for pro-people programs


KASESE: A section of leaders subscribing to the Opposition Forum for Democratic-FDC in Kasese district have hailed President Yoweri Museveni what they described as pro-people programs.

Kasese district chairperson, Geoffrey Sibendire Bigogo and Martin Safari, the Central Division chairperson in Kasese Municipality say that, President Museveni has a good package for the country but lacking good implementers.

In an interview with Safari the central division chairperson after welcoming NRM cadres in his administrative area at Rwenzori Square in Kasese town at celebrations to mark 31 years since the NRA/NRM liberated the country in 1986, He told the cadres including, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, the Ambassador designate for China said that, for the six months he has been in office, he has observed that government would not be criticized if all good programs under the wise leadership of President Yoweri had been implemented.

The National liberation day was celebrated on 26th of January and for Kasese was on Thursday last week due to the guidelines by government that allows the lower local councils to celebrate it after the national event.

“If all programs are deliberately reaching people no one would talk ill about the president” safari said.

He said that the NRM cadres have failed to go to the ground to explain to the people what government had extended to them.

Safari did not indicate which good programs President Museveni had initiated since he took over power but the district Chairperson Geoffrey Sibendire Bigogo hailed the president for having well disciplined armed forces.

In his speech, Bigogo told the gathering that the country’s Gross Domestic Product had increases since 1986, democracy; peace, electricity, Operation Wealth Creation program, Youth Livelihood and women empowerment are all good programs for the country he said.

Bigogo advised that the ruling government should be patient and consultative on issues affecting the community.

He asked the central government to release the remaining Rwenzururu subjects who were arrested together with the King during the November 26 and 27th Kasese clashes.

Pupils at Pals Kindergarten Nursery and Primary school, in their presentation at the function asked all leaders regardless of their political inclinations to observe unity and teamwork to register development in the district.

Ferigo Kambale, the former Municipality NRM flag bearer described peace as a cornerstone for development asking the people to join the president in agitating for sanity in the region.

Godfrey Kabyanga Baluku used the function to apologize to the Rwenzururu kingdom for having left the institution before laying a strong foundation he said would have been followed by his predecessors.

He then called on all the active and retired leaders in the district come to a round table and plan for the Kingdom.

Dr. Crispus W.B. Kiyonga, highlighted the achievement by the NRA/NRM since 1986 in the areas of security, education, health, rural electrification, schools, job opportunities and irrigation among others.
